About This Course
This is a blended learning course, module code NHS-4228. It is only open to patient-facing healthcare professionals who are registered with a regulatory body in the UK.
The module will start on 5 February 2025, in Semester 2 of the 2024-2025 academic year
Who is this course for?
This module is aimed at registered healthcare professionals such as nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, paramedics and pharmacists who wish to expand their scope of practice to benefit patient care. This module is for professionals who wish to acquire evidence-based physical examination techniques to support diagnosis and management in patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
Why study this course?
This module will enable you to adopt the skills required to perform evidence-based physical examinations on patients presenting with a variety of undifferentiated conditions and presentations. You will also learn about how expanding your scope of practice affects your accountability as a health professional.
How long does this course take to complete?
The module is delivered every Wednesday, between 09:30 and 16:00 hours on Bangor campus. The first taught day is 5 February and the final taught day is 30 April.

The following weeks are normally allocated to self-directed study in preparation for assignments:

Practical examinations are usually held on either 4 June or 11 June, with the final assignments to be submitted in September 2025.
